1- The new British ambassador to the US, Lord Peter Mandelson, told the BBC on his first day in office that the UK should respect President Donald Trump’s “strong and clear authority for change”.

2- We thought Mandelson was the UK’s ambassador to the USA, but the opposite has happened. In other words, it would be more accurate to say that he is the UK’s ambassador to the USA. An ambassador’s first duty is to defend his own country’s interests, not the interests of other country leaders.
3- This ambassador had to say the following. ‘Trump should respect the UK government’s strong and clear authority for change. ‘We wonder who finds such people and appoints them as ambassadors. If he respects them, let him do it, he may even kiss Trump’s hand, but it would be better if he did it as a personal choice and kept it to himself. Giving advice to the UK government is not what an ambassador should do, it is stupid.
