According to the BBC, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer said that the government’s efforts to reorganize relations with the European Union do not mean reversing Brexit.
But Starmer’s words are not very convincing because the UK government’s decision alone is not enough to reorganize relations with the European Union. First, EU countries, especially Germany and France, need to say yes to this.
How will Starmer reorganize the agreements reached with the EU? It doesn’t seem very logical. If there is to be a change in the agreements made after Brexit, the UK has to put advantages on the table for EU countries again.
By the way, while Starmer is already meeting with EU officials, he should also talk about the ‘7 Pound visa fee for UK citizens’. Why did the EU feel the need to make this decision out of the blue?
Even if the UK were to consider re-entering the EU, it would first have to convince Germany and France, and then the other countries. So leaving the EU was easy, but re-entering may not be that easy.
